Colorado Technical University CTU IS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF AND SCAM! Internet COLORADO
CTU is a complete rip-off. When I signed up for school I made it very clear that I would not attend school unless I received financial aid that I did not have to pay back becuase I do not have money to pay back, especially due to me just having a baby. CTU said that I was approved for financial aid and that I could go to school.
Once I started the school I took about 4 classes, 1 just being an introduction class, then I started receiving letters in the mail stating how much I owe CTU. I called the school immediately and explained to them that I was supposed to be receiving financail aid that I did not have to be repaid.
Then the school told me that I misunderstood what they said and that I was approved for financial aid money that I would owe back at the end of my schooling. I immediately told them I wanted to cancel my classes and that I was no longer going to attend CTU. After many emails back and forth CTU kept sending me and invoice of all of my charges and the charges did not make sense and was very unclear of what I was being charged for.
After I continuosly emailed CTU asking to explain these charges they finally just sent my charges to collections which lowered my credit score! I have all of the emails going back and forth between me and a few other CTU staff but unfortunatly they did not care to reread these emails. So now I am screwed and owe over 3,000 dollars. On top of all of this CTU keeps calling and harrassing me asking me to come back to school and they are also sending me emails. This school needs to be shut down!

Any online school that will charge someone over 40,000 for an Associates Degree, which CTU did try charging me that much is a bullshit school no matter how you lay it out.. Im glad I left the school when I did and found a great job w/o getting a low level degree from CTU and having to pay back thousands of dollars. Glad you had a good experience!

I have attended and graduated from the school with a BSIT and now working on my MSIT. This is a legitimate University. The Financial Aid package that was put together for you had to approve with a signature. What you are saying does not make any sense to me in my dealings with the Financial Aid department unless you signed an agreement that included you paying back the University. As a freshman and sophomore I had a small balance each year and had to setup payment plans for them but all of that was spelled out and included in my Financial Aid package. The University has three on the ground campuses that you can chose to attend if you do not want to get your degree online so they are legitimate and regionally accredited which is the highest level of accreditation. There have been a couple of instances that I did not understand the package they put together but called the financial aid department and if I did not get the response I was looking for called my counselor and explained the situation and let them know if they could not work it out that I did not pay anything out of pocket that I would not attend and it usually took about 48 hours but since the end of my sophomore year they have always been able to come up with a "grant" I call it a discount that provided a final package that did not have me pay any money out of pocket.
I will tell you that you have to be willing to let them know you are aware of other Universities and happy to attend them if they (CTU) is not will to come up with a solution that meets your needs. With that said this is no different from any University you go to all of the same rules apply especially when it comes to Financial Aid as that is regulated by the government.
