I started working at Colwell through a temporary agency on February 19,2001. I was hired in through the company on June 4,2001. I was permanently laid off from Colwell on January 8,2002. I had almost a year in at this place.

I worked my a*s off to do the best quality job that I could possibly do for Colwell and it made no difference because they don't give a d**n about their employees. They let people go with absoloutely no consideration to loyalty at all. They don't lay off by seniority.

Your supervisor gets to pick who he no longer wants and they make an excuse and get rid of you. I will admit that I wasn't very fast at a lot of the jobs but that was because my main concern was quality not quantity.

But Colwell doesn't care about quality at all they only care about quanity and the almighty dollar. I was never trained on half of the machines in the plant and that was used against me. My boss expected me to run the machines even if I hadn't been trained on them. Colwell got rid of me unjustly in my opinion. And I have told everyone I know not to work for them.

My boss Phil Kershner didn't like me from the very beginning and harrassed me from day one. He had been reported and nothing was done. Except for the fact that the ones who reported him were permanently laid off.

Colwell is the worst place I have ever worked and the only place I have ever had any problems with my boss. When I was permanently laid off Colwell kept people with lower seniority than me, even one girl who was about to be pointed out. Half the people in the department and shift I worked had lower seniority than me,but none of them were permanently laid off.

Colwell kept all the people who only cared about quanity and got rid of all the good employees. When I was laid off I was told by Bill Green that it was because of downsizing and less than a month later they called everybody else who was temporarily laid off back and brought in a bunch of temps. Real nice downsizing Bill Green. This company treated me unfairly and I will never work for a Non-Union plant again.

When I was laid off I had a weeks paid vacation coming to me and five paid sick days coming to me. When I finally got my vacation check they took double insurance out on me and when I called them on it Rachel Welch H.R. Manager never returned my calls. And they ripped me off on my paid vacation days. I never got paid for those. And that was wrong because I earned them and Colwell got rid of me,their choice not mine. So they should have had to pay me for the week of sick days I had coming.

Colwell is a paint company, they make the books that you see at Home Depot and Lowes with paint chips in them to help you select the color you want. Their major customer is Behr paints.

I just want to tell anyone who may work at Colwell or knows someone who does form a Union or you will end up like me, out of a job because your boss doesn't like you and no legal recourse. Colwell sucks and they are a dirty company and they do not care one d**n bit about their Employees all they do is tell you LIES. I worked at the newest Colwell plant in Kendallville Indiana.
