In December 2012 I received a flyer by mail advertising basic local channels through Comcast for $9.99. I called 1 800 COMCAST to place my order. The telephone sales rep tried to sell me on other packages which I refused and then she finally sold me on a $14.95 special which was to include HGTV, and FX ampong other channels. I agreed to go with the next tier for 14.95 because of the channels offered and free showtime promo also offered for 3 months. My box arrived by mail service and everything they offered was included.

In February, suddenly channels I had been enjoying disappeared. I called Comcast to ask about the service change and was told that I had been receiving those channels in error. (This was the channels I signed on for specifically) I told them that I agreed to a certain package for one year at this rate and they had no business making changes to the agreement without notice. The rep then offered to add those programs back at an increase in rates to move up to the next tier. I told them this is unacceptable. We had an agreement. They should not have made changes.

I asked to go back down to the $9.99 basic channels that I was calling about originally then...since they took the channels that they promised in order to get my business. I was informed that if I wanted only local channels, I would pay more than the service package I am on currently.

Bait and switch. This is not good business practice. Times are hard for me right now, but when I get back on my feet and have money to spend on entertainment...I will not be spending that money on Comcast!
