I had a 5 year contract with Comcast for business internet, TV and phone service. Contract expired approx. 2 years ago and the cost has steadily risen without notice to double the contract price. I have downsized my business to just myself so I attempted to negociate a lower price that was comparable to the current advertised new subscriber offer and still $30 more per month than an offer from a competetor of theirs.

Comcast refused to honor their current new subscriber offer price and quoted more than $40 more per month than the competetor. I switch to the competetor service. Upon startup of my new services I went to return Comcast's equipment to the local branch and they REFUSED to take it back without me calling a business disconnect service number first. When I called the disconnect people they stated they would e-mail me a disconnect authorization request for me to sign and send back, however I was liable for 2 additional months of service cost per my contracts cancellation policy. I stated the contract has been fulfilled and has not been in force for the last 2 years (hence the reason they could raise the cost). I requested a copy of an in force contract with my signature that states this 2 month cancellation notice and was told a copy would be e-mailed along with the request to disconnect.

I NEVER received such a contract copy and to date after multiple request to multiple Comcast people I still have NOT been provided with a copy of any contrct at all.  In addition the request to cancel, the form stipulates that I'm requesting and agreeing to a 2 month continued billing. I said I was unwilling to agree to an additional 2 months billing and demand the service be terminated and they take back their equipment at once. Comcast refused and stated IF I DO-NOT SIGN this disconnect request form, agreeing to all it's stated stipulations they WILL-NOT disconnect service and WILL continue to bill me.

In short...Upon a contract expiring they can raise their rate at any time in any amount...BUT...I must still abide by the cancellation policy stated in the same EXPIRED contract!! Sounds like contract fraud to me.
