Comcast Xfinity lies about service, false advertisting, false charges, unfair practices Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
As an Xfinity Triple Play Starter subscriber, I for years accessed On Demand/Free Movies/Turner Classic Movies (TCM) - and kept asking if TCM would ever be added to the starter package. Always no, you have to upgrade to preferred. I finally upgraded, but just for a few months, then couldn't afford and went back to Starter level. Suddenly, the "free" TCM movies are only available for a fee. Comcast maintains it's okay to say "free" even though it involves an extra monthly charge or fee.
Comcast further maintains that TCM was always part of my starter package for years prior and that's why I got TCM free movies. Complete lie, easily proved with literature showing starter vs. preferred channel lineups from past years. Numerous snail mails and e-mails to various executives, requests for supervisors etc. completely ignored.
So I downgraded my phone service which is supposed to now have free local/5 cents a minute long distance (and I no longer make long distance calls from that phone). Comcast now bills for hours of long distance time but cannot provide detail on when calls made/duration etc.- they maintain they just couldn't possibly be billing me these minutes unless I made the calls. They charged $1.99 for the change of service, by the way.
Bill is completely incomprehensible. They also charge a high monthly rent for a modem. You can buy the modem, but the kicker is that it is only available through Comcast or partner Best Buy, it is ultra expensive and never goes on sale, and Comcast won't support any other modem. This is not fair market practice, they have actually taken steps to ensure that other modems won't work unless you are a complete tech guru and can figure it out. When I originally signed up for 2-year contract, was supposed to get a $100 gift card and a video camera; these never materialized, again, Comcast ignored numerous snail mails, calls, e-mails reporting problem, finally gave up on that one. Would love to switch vendors, but the others are just as bad; have also pointlessly filed reports with FCC, BBB, etc.
