Comcast technical service is terrible once you get beyond the "did you power off and on your modem?" question. We had used them at our business and unfortunately I still use them at my residence because Verizon hasn't pulled the fiber into my development. The ripoff is that if there basic customer support person, reading from a script, and with far less networking experience than I have, is not able to solve your problem, then want to refer you to their signature service. That service costs money. Now, why would I want to pay somebody to resolve an issue with Comcast's infrastructure.

The last straw at my business was that some static IP traffic was not getting thru to some of our servers. The tech traced it to our modem, then because confused over what was happening. At that point, he recommended sending me to the pay for service. I said, wait, let's try rebooting the modem. Guess what, the problem dissappeared. So, in that case, it was a modem restart, and the tech didn't suggest it.

Latest case... I can't access my bank http address from my residence. Every other site in the world, vpn, voip, and so forth works perfectly. I have 7 computers in my residence including ipads, windows, macs, windows xp, windows 7, phones, etc... every one of them behaves the same way, no response from the web site. go to any other location, such as my office and the same computers can access the bank site thru Verizon FIOS.

Of course the technician wants to have me disconnect my entire internal network at my residence and plug one computer into the comcast router. I said, no thanks, I can assure you that is not going to change anything. At that point he tried to refer me to the pay for service.

We also had a conversation about resetting my modem, and I explained that he should not do that because I was on a voip call, and it would disconnect. Eventually I asked to talk to his supervisor, and he put me on hold. Guess what happens next. Internet goes down, phone call disconnects. The idiot reset the modem.

Guess what else? Didn't solve the issue with accessing my bank either. Freaking idiots!
