Complaint Review: Comedy Works

I came to a show at their comedy club to see comic Ari Shaffir.  I had been attending this comedy club for over 12 years without a single problem.  I purchased my tickets 4 months in advance, took the night off work, paid for a sitter, paid to park, and showed up an hour early.  After they checked us in we waited for 45 minutes for the showroom to open.  

When the showroom opened the manager approached us and informed us we were not allowed into the showroom.  I was told that I was now banned from their comedy club.  They could have told me before I ever showed up so apparently the decission was made between me checking in and them opening the showroom.  I asked the manager why I couldn't attend the show and I was told the owner Wende Curtis said "I know the reason why".  The owner Wende Curtis refused to speak to me in person and I could see her hiding downstairs.  

Since we were the first people in line this caused a big scene embarrassing my wife and I in front of a sold out crowd.  I think they canceled my tickets last minute because the show sold out and they wanted their friends to be able to attend or to be able to sell them at a higher price.  I was told to contact the owner Wende Curtis to find out the reason of my banning.  After sending multiple emails to wendecurtis@comedyworks.com I finally got a reply 2 days later asking me "If I was ready to rumble".  

I still have never been told why we were banned.  The owner said I got her sued and I was no longer welcome at her clubs but when I told her that was untrue she didn't care.  After a few more emails to no reply trying to figure out what she was talking about she refuned my money for the 7 upcoming shows I had already purchased.  I had to call all my friends to tell them our tickets for upcoming shows were canceled and they would have to purchase them again if they wanted to go.  Of course they couldn't purchase many of their tickets including Jo Koy tickets because the show had sold out by that time.

This company has zero care about their customers.  If you purchase a ticket and they change the show they will not call you to inform you.  If they can cancel your ticket to sell the seats at a higher price when the show sells out, they will.  There's no point in contacting the owner Wende Curtis as she will give you no answers.  I personally think she has banned me because I witnessed underage kids attend a show that was for 21+ only.

 We had never been a disturbance to a show and had always brought friends who were never problems so there's no legit reason for our ban.  We also have not been able to get a real answer for our ban.  The owner can and will ban anyone she feels like banning.  Like in our case if she has you confussed with someone else she will still keep you banned instead of admitting to her mistake.  The owner has told me she will never allow me into any club she runs now because of the negative reviews I have left on sites like Yelp and Trip Advisor about this night.
