We checked into the hotel and although we requested a non smoking room, the room reeked of smoke.

There was no remote for the TV and it took three phone calls and 45 minutes to get one. We reported that the room smelled from smoke and got no response.

At 6:00 AM the pipes in the wall started banging and woke us up.

There is a brochure in the room that states if you are not completely satisfied, the room is free. When I reported all of the above to the desk clerk (the manager would not come out of his office) they offered me a $10 discount.

I wrote a letter to Customer Relations of Choice Hotels International and was told that each hotel is independently owned and the hotel's response is final.

Their satisfaction guarantee is a phony and I have stayed at my last Choice Hotel.
