My husband stayed at the Comfort Suites Downtown in Sacramento Califormia after driving for 12 hours headed for Oregon. We were quoted a rate with all discounts. We got to our room and looked through the phone book to find a restaurant nearby but didn't know what was close.

My husband went to the front desk and asked but they said there were many good restaurants. Later we found in their lobby a bunch of menus of nearby restaurants but were never told about them. We got a menu and drove to get our food. We wanted to see a movie but the machine was not hooked up and the pieces were misiing so we had to call the fron desk.

The next morning we got up in I found a gingernail in the bed with me. It was not mine. Then we went to take showeres to find the bathtub dirty. We got ready as we had another 12 hour drive and went to the fron desk to complain. The front desk person said that fingernails get caught in the linen all the time from laundry and there was nothing he could do. We said that was disgusting and he just shrugged. I pointed out the plaque hanging behind him guaranteeing 100% satisfaction or a refund.
He wouldn't do anything so I said I would write to Corporate. He said fine and had us sign our bill. We were so mad we didn't look at it.

Down the road we noticed they charged us a higher rate without discount. After we got home I wrote a letter. Noone responded. I wrote another letter. Finally a manager of the hotel called to inform me they were not going to correct this and in so many words they said I had made the whole thing up. I have turned them in to BBB and corporate who says they will not help me or honor their "legal" guarantee. What good is the BBB anyway?
I guess all those BBB reports on this web site are true.

I am so sorry that you had such a bad experience with Comfort Suites. However, I have to inform you that Comfort Suites is actually just another brand of Choice Hotels. Choice Hotels license its name to business owners (i.e. Comfort Inn) who are then required to follow through with quality requirements. Choice Hotels gets royalty payments, because their brant is used.

However, the problem is these business owners often hire managers to run these hotels in which , some of them don't comply to quality requirements (specified in the license agreement); Often times, it's the business owner who ignores the license terms.

In the end, it's Choice Hotels who is given the bad name. However, don't despair, because Choice Hotels provide 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back. Of course, you have to write to them first and tell them what you didn't like with the service. Avoid dealing with these hotel managers who think their customers don't deserve a refund; otherwise, you're just wasting your time.
