COMMERCE PAYMENT SYSTEMS  DANGER FOR NEW MERCHANTS! HEWLETT, New York

Thank you, Rip-off Reports and your contributors for reporting on this company! I don't think I have had any quantifiable financial  loss, but a competent attorney may think otherwise.

My obvious loss is many hours of time and enthusiasm while almost being taken in by this company's sales tactics. As a new company, I NEED debit/credit card processing.

These salesmen made everything sound perfect: 0.35% discount rate on swiped debit cards (this great offer unexplainably became 0.25%  "special rate for YOU" when the application came in); $4.95 per month total service charge for "no-volume" months (which was important to my  business as we're not in-season  for maybe 5 months although we offer year-round services for those rare instances where there is need).

"Buy our card-swipe terminal for $95 + $15 shipping"

To make the offer even more enticing, "We will design, with your input, a five-page website that will be promoted through proper links on Google and Yahoo, etc., and complete with Spanish-language accents and punctuation if you will just write the copy.""AND WE WILL HOST IT YEAR-ROUND AND UPDATE IT AS NECESSARY ALL INCLUDED IN YOUR $4.95/MONTH!"

I was ready to pull out my debit card and start when they responded to my request for sample websites to look at.
They provided me with 9 (NO, 8 BECAUSE ONE WAS DUPLICATED) All were boring and virtually identical in layout. Some businesses were out-of-business, others answered on answering machines like private homes without mentioning business names and at  least one that was still in business said they no longer take debit/credit because of the hassles and tghe website has produced nothing. "Try Quicken websites and I can give you the name and phone number of a good card processor"

Then I googled the company and found Rip-off Reports, with multiple complaints, thank goodness.

I'm spending more time writing this report in the hope of saving someone else.
