This company sells their healthcare service through a telemarketer out of Tampa Bay Florida called Quality Resourses. These high pressure marketers have your credit card number on file and are calling to charge your credit card 9.95 then 49.95 every subsiquent month if you do not cancel. They will not take (no) for an answer. If you accept the service in any way at all, they will charge your card. They tape the acceptance of the service and if disputed will play the tape for the customer, BBB, ect.

According to BBB reports, they have charged customers after a refusal of the service and caused overdraft fees. The Commonwealth Benefit Plan makes the dispute procees very difficult hoping the customer will give up or settle for a partial refund. To get your money back, you will need to make a threat to report them to the BBB and/or your state attorney general.

Commonwealth Benefit Plan and Quality Resourses call themselves partners, allowing the exchange of customer information. They also sell your email address if you provide this to the company. They will ask for your email to send you a confirmation, but in reality they then sell the information to their (Marketing Partners ) Hang up of contacted by these people, do not let them trick you into talking with them, place your telephone numbers on the National Do Not Call list by calling their toll fee number or just Google (Do not call) and enrool your number online.

About 2 years ago I went through training for this company, and didnt finish because I saw what a rip off it was. They encouraged you to tell people that since their credit was less than perfect, it was the only way to go. The computers were outdated, pieces of crap, and they charged you for 3 months until you even got the computer!!! I really hate to tell you this, but the company just went under about 6 months ago. Bankrupt. It was in the news in some places, and apparantly there are THOUSANDS of people who were gipped out of their computers. Maybe you could try and find out how to contact them to join a case... but theres no way to contact them at that number or address, seeing as the company up and left 6 months ago. Im really sorry. These people make me sick.

I am a current employee with this company, and I deal day in and day out with people who call in and play dumb to the fact that a telemarketer called them, offered some grocery coupons to try out the service, and then they completely forget what the charge is.

Let me ask, why on earth would a company call you and say "Hey, let me send you out a free package, and you should check it out." Its a business people. I dont feel an ounce of sorrow for anyone who talks with a telemarketer and gets "Hassled" into it. There was an invention that came with the phone, and it is the phone hook. This nifty little invention allows you to hang up on any phone calls, at any time, for any reason. These telemarketers deal with 1000 hang ups a day, and suddenly they pressured you? Really... arent we all adults.

Watch your money, and every time a company charges you for a service YOU ACCEPTED, quit behaving as though calling and cussing them out, being an all around a-hole, or crying on the phone will fix everything.

And if this company was such a scam, why is the 1800 number next to the charge on your credit company? Oh, such a scam... how dare they provide you with contact information.

Grow up, and if you cant be responsible enough to handle your money, aggressive enough to tell these telemarketers NO (OR HEAVEN FORBID HANG UP THE d**n PHONE) then maybe you should do society a favor and find another country to infect...

I worked for Commonwealth for 2 years and I can say that the person who said they don't take no for an answer is absolutely correct. I would be asigned the task of listening to the recorded conversation between the potential client and the telemarketer. If a No answer was clearly stated and the customer was billed anyway then a refund will be given to the customer but if a yes is clearly given then you are you may be offered a refund but that is solely the choice of the CSR.

The catch to all this is, when the customer is contacted they are offered several different things before healthcare privilages is offered. by this time the customer is just ready to get off the phone and agrees but forgets to cancel. There is nothing mailed to the customer to remind them that they have the program and most of the time the customers do not recieve there packages of literature until billing is almost due. The trick is you have 30 days at a discount rate and then billed the full price after 30 days. They are told only once that the 30 days begins the day they accept the service on the telemarketing call.

After all is said and done, the time between the telemarketing call and the receipt of your package is about 10-14 days so you honsetly only have to weeks to try out the plan. Forgeting to cancel is so easy to do especially when you have about 4 different things offered to you on one call and the numbers to cxl are only given once unless you ask them to repeat it. I am deeply apologetic to all those people I couldn't give refunds to but most employees (anywhere in customer service) are faced with the fact that if they give you your money back to many times, they run the risk of being fired and not being able to feed their own families. It is a very immoral world we live in these days and you are forced to do what you have to do.

The Offer: A Rockville consumer declined a telephone sales pitch from Commonwealth Benefit that offered a discount medical product and service plan.

The Complaint: The company enrolled the consumer in the plan and charged the consumer's credit card $38.95, even though the consumer had declined the offer and had not authorized any charges to her credit card.

The Outcome: DCA obtained a full refund for the consumer. Commonwealth's president stated that he listened to a recording of the sales call in question and it "does not meet our criteria for a sale, and was inadvertently submitted, as a result of human or computer error." Commonwealth is also under investigation by the Office of the Virginia Attorney General.
