Being a 67 yr old senior citizen on a fixed income, I have been paying electric charges to Commonwealth Edison for at least 55 years, and have never been undercharged or received a break on what I owed to them for service.

Beginning in August of 2005, I myself and approximately 50 other residents moved into a brand new building (4201 Sauk Trail, Richton Park, Il. 660471)and since that time we have ben charged the wrong rates. This was confirmed after many calls and many months to Comed. I received many excuses, such as " thats what it is", "It is what it is", and "we'll send someone out to check and see what type of service is being provided"

Needless to say this went on forever, and finally after approximately 4 yrs. and many frustrating phone calls, they conceded that they would give me a 9 month credit on my electric bill.

I believe that when they inspected and agreed to provide Electric service that they had to know that the building was all electric, as there are no gas appliances and each month they send ot meter readers who could easily confirm that this was an all electric building.

They had a responsibility to know and to accrurately provide service and charge accordingly, and they ignored this for 4+ yrs.

They now claim that they cannot go back and refund or credit any more than that, and I believe that this is outrageous. This is a 50 apartment building and everyone has been overcharged, even though most if not all do not know that they have been ripped off.

Just imagine, if you or I owed them charges for 4 years, they would do many things to you. The first would be to cut off your lights, send your account to collections. ruin your credit, and on and on. And further because of having to pay these exorbitant Electric rates, it has caused my credit to suffer. I have had to choose between paying to have electric lights, and medical, and food bills. It will now take years for me to restablish my former good credit. This is not right.

I believe that in the interest of fairplay and good customer relations, especially in these bad economic times, that they should refund all of these overcharges, regardless of what they claim their policy is.

I have over the years heard good things about Mr. Frank Clark (Chairman and Chief exec officer) of Comed and I refuse to beileve that if he knew of this outrageous treatment that he would allow a building of Seniors who can least afford it to be rippped off this way.
