I don't need any relief, but after reading all of the other reports, I felt I would go ahead and tell others why I plan to close my Compass account just months after I opened it.

When I opened my account with Compass approximately two months ago, Compass denied me overdraft protection because they stated my credit was too bad. The next day, however, a PLATINUM card with a $7K limit arrived. I knew something was fishy, but I began to use the credit card.

In the time I had the credit card, I would make monthly payments of $1000.00 per month. Compass, in exchange, would shorten my grace period and charge with a late fee of $39.00 each month. Compass also charged me with a $1.00 per month when I made the payment at the branch. They chewed me out on the phone and stated that UNLESS I have my statement they will charge with a $1.00.. (All of the above relates to their credit card).

Well, the reason why they denied me O/D protection is because they are indeed sheisty with how they credit the deposits. Normally, the deposits are credited AFTER the checks clear for that day so you will incur fees. My first month, I incurred fees in the 100s and once I realized, I was always at Compass trying to make deposits.

I plan to close my account in August when all of my checks clear. I also paid off the credit card.

Most banks are understanding or forgiving or even happy to have customers that pay their bills, Compass is NOT one of those banks. If you want a bank with good customer service and cares about its customers, I suggest you take your business somewhere other than Compass.
