Yes, my checking was free but everything else had a price! NSF fees caused my $3 cup of coffee to be $136 + $3 in NSF fees! Reason being that transactions took anywhere from 3-6days to post! Other accts I've had at another bank posted same day...so I know it wasn't the businesses that weren't posting on their end. Also, did you know that your debit card authorized for you to overdraft around $300 WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION OR NOTIFICATION?

So it's not a "If you don't have it-it declines". I learned the hard way that they did this. I asked that they take off the $300 overdrafting courtesy so my card isn't charged if no money is there and it was off... temporarily. It was put back on without my knowledge! Their explanation is to give you, the account holder, room in case a check clears. They feel they are doing customers a favor in charging an overdraft fee for the overage versus a check rejecting. I MAY understand the logic however, I DON'T USE CHECKS.

This is the tip of the iceberg. Staff is unhelpful, rude and the banks always smell like food. The passwords on the website aren't alpha-numeric but dictionary password un-safe. I have recently found a decent bank and am getting the heck out of Compass. Compass needs to throw me a going away party because they've made enough money off MY FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT.
