To Whom it may Concern,

The reason for my letter is because Compass Bank has charged my account with overdraft fees totaling to $432.00, that I do not agree with. So far they have only offered to return $72.00 of those charges to me.

When I was made aware of these charges, I went into the Irving branch and talked with an employee who told me to check my register and that she would "email" customer service and someone would contact me. I still have heard nothing. This was a Friday, I'll give them the weekend and hope to hear from them on Monday.

My arguement with them is the excessive amount of overdraft fees and the policy for charging one every time you write a check or use your atm/debit card. Why do they allow you to use your card repeatly if they claim you do/do not have the funds avaiable in your account???

I am a single parent that could use that money that Compass Bank stole from me. Now I struggle to make ends meet somehow.

Rest asure that this battle is not over and there will be resolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please complain on that website. I did, other people in thei forum did, you will do and we all together will end this scam.

While I certainly agree that you are not supposed to try to spend money which you don't have but I think Compass in this specific cases not helping you not to go into this situation but specifically operates in a manner to profit from this.

I specifically tell about their practice of putting credits after debits on nightly updates and arranging debits in decreasing order. There is only one logical explanation for that practice - profit by charging excessive NSF fees when there is no logical reason for it. Why is that debits are in decreasing order? Why is that debits before credits?

Again link is here, please complaint.

As for Compass Bank trolls in this forums - you need to come to terms with what you are doing. You are saying "you can not manage your finances so Compass bank has full right to take financial advantage of you".

Feel fortunate that the bank is refunding $72.00.

If you are writing checks and making ATM withdrawls on an account without enough funds, why should the bank not charge you for each overdrawn item? Why is it so difficult to keep an account register of what you current balance is?

Compass Bank did not steal from you. In fact, you stole from Compass Bank by habitually overdrawing your account. A checking account is not a free loan.

Read you deposit account contract (you should have gotten one when you opened your account). If you can not find it, go online to Compass Bank's website. There will be one there, you may have to search for it. It will detail exactly what charges they apply and in what amounts.

It is really very easy to avoid NSF and Overdraft charges. Learn to add and subtract. If you are unable to grasp that, get a copy of Quicken or MS Money (Most PCs come with a limited edition already installed). There are also several freeware programs you can download that will do the same (but with less features).

There is nothing bogus or deceitful about it. Compass Bank applies charges that all other banks are allowed to by law.
