My name is Tami and I manage a 4000 client office in Kingman AZ. In the past I used to recomend alot of clients to compass bank. But I have found that is not in the best interest of the client.

I also banked at compass for one of my personel accounts, I have accounts at other banks too. I have my payroll checks direct deposited every other week, at the time this all took place, my paychecks were $1000 or more a check. Anyway, my check was deposited on April 19, 2005 they did not post it intill April 21, 2005.
I recieved my payroll check stub on April 20, 2005 in the mail.

The bank says I had three debit transactions that bounced before my check was posted, Thats not the part that makes me mad. I was willing to pay the $35 fees and blow it off. Even though this isnt the first time they held my paycheck to make debits not go through.

They also made a check bounce that was deposited by a store on April 21, 2005 they still didnt post my paycheck that they had since April, 19, 2005. That check was for $289.00 but then went ahead and paid the check. Still I would have paid the NSF fees, But this is what set me over the line, THEY DID NOT NOTIFY ME FOR TWO WEEKS, I received a little post card in the mail, same day as my bank statement, ON May 5, 2005. Within this time I also had a tax refund check direct deposited it was for a little over $300.

By the time I received the notice the bank says I was a negative $200, and I had forgotten the refund check was being deposited. The NSF fees and other ripoff charges came to over $600.

Mind you this is all from debit transaction and two checks. Two weeks of thinking I had plenty of money, not knowing they were robbing my account.

I have tried to talk to the branch manager and customer service supervisors and have now hired an attorney. They now say I owe them close to $800.

I am also trying to organize a protest and/or picket line against the Kingman AZ Branch of Compass Bank. I will know longer refer anyone to them and I will fight to the end. I want my money back.

"I could not imagine what would have happened if I was living in the poverty level of income". Read a few of the other posts from folks who are and ARE having difficulty making their house payments and feeding their kids.

Compass Bank has not answered letter from lawyers

#3Author of original report

For medical reasons I have not been able to update. Compass bank still has not answered a letter from my attoney. The bank still has guts to mail me offers for different kind of accounts, but has not had the guts to answer a letter that my attorney had wrote on my behalf.
So, I will now be trying to start a class action law suite. What ever happened to business ethics, morals, and just doing whats best for your customers, not you pocket. How can these people live with themselves. I could not imagine what would have happened if I was living in the poverty level of income. This whole mess would have made me loose my house, not be able to feed my children. Thank God, I had other bank accounts with banks that care about their customers. And I hold a good job.
My opinion is this is an act of terrorism by a company in our own country and needs to be stopped.
I am recovering from a major surgery but will still update as soon as I have more information.
