Competitive Marketing Concepts Ripoff Very Vague - Waste of time!! Austin Texas
Here are some other thoughts: I asked the HR recruiter, Jen, how the salary was structured, and aside from her not knowing, she also conveniently forgot to ask when I followed up. HR recruiters should know how to answer this question.
Finally, when I talked to Joe and asked him, he said that some people are given a base pay and others not. This inconsistency sounded like desparate hiring, not due to business growth.
Additionally, during the first interview with Joe, I brought up that I liked how the company has an online unversity, see the excerpt taken directly from the website:
"In addition to the hands-on support provided by senior executives in the field, the organization's web-based University and Intranet was launched for ongoing training, real-time communication, and round-the-clock sales support."
Joe's response was "We don't have an online unversity." Then there was an awkward moment.
BEWARE, don't waste your time with this company. I'm so glad that I didn't go on a 2nd interview. Next time, I'll do better research!

Competitive Marketing - Vague, Flaky, Lack of Integrity
#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Tue, November 28, 2006
I recently interviewed with this company, thinking it was some sort of marketing company. I checked out their website - it was very vague about what they did...they have recently fixed it to explain better. (www.austincm.com)
When I asked at the 1st interview what they did, she gave me the impression that they wine-and-dined with the Fortune 500 companies and then wine-and dined with potential customers. Tha sounded fun, so when I was offered the 2nd interview, I went.
On the 2nd interview, I was taken out with a salesman and went door-to-door, attempting to set up new Quill accounts. I also discovered that my pay would be by commission only. I was told though that I could get my own company in like 10 months. (Yeah, right!)
After my 2nd interview, I was offered a position and in that meeting, I was lectured about integrity and work-ethic. I found that ironic, coming from a company that wouldn't let their potential employees know what they were getting into.
This company is trying to sucker naive college grads into becoming those annoying door-to-door salesman, without letting them know that until it is too late and they've already accepted the job and fell for Joe Nolan's spiel about integrity. I have read all the reports on this website and they are all true. Please beware of this company!
