I went to GovernmentRegistry.org, which seemed like a trustworthy reliable website, to get a background check on someone. Their name and city came up in the search asking me to purchase their available records. It took me to CIS Nationwide and after I purchased an account with "unlimited searches" I found I was duped!! The person who showed up in the list previously was no longer available.
There was a dollar amount balance on the screen and every time a search yield a list of names it would charge my account to see the list of names, regardless if they were the names I was looking for. Every action I took I was charged. I couldn't even view the search results to see if the person I was looking for was in the list without being charged and so I was never able to get far enough to see if the background check information was even legit.
It was a complete scam and I fell for it. I felt embarrassed that I was a victim of online fraud after years of teaching others how to use the internet safely and securely. I knew the warning signs, I read their terms and conditions and yet I saw no red flags. I was scammed out of $50!!

Unlimited search options allows for only basic people searching,
basic background, landline phone searches and basic addresses as part of our
membership.
Your CIS Nationwide balance gets debited for every Direct Search
a customer conducts.

in our Terms and Conditions page. All customers must agree to these Terms and
Agreements before proceeding to check out.
