I keep noticing a recurring charge on my bank statement, I called the company making the charge, Complete Savings, and asked them to stop taking money from my account. They said it is a subscription service and that I must provide them with my full name, DOB, SSN, and debit card number before they will consider processing my request.

Even After I gave them this info they said they "can't locate" my membership and therefore will not stop charging me. I contacted my bank, who told me I must get them to stop charging my card. They are not able to stop the charges on their end. I contacted the better business bureau but so far nothing has happened there either.

Many, many, many complaints about this company. You didn't tell the company you ordered from that it was ok to give your credit card info to anyone to let them use, and you didn't give it directly to complete savings'. You had no way of knowing that there was a third party company who had now aquired your account info.

Call this company and demand your money back. Also call your bank and ask to speak to the claims' department. Then file a report with the BBB. It seems that the company is using, in addition to other methods, the tactic of being quick to refund money to everyone who complains. I am guessing that their thinking in this is that if they do this, then people will be a little pissed off, but they will have their money back, and they won't do anything.

Meanwhile all the people who don't notice the relatively small charge, or who don't think to fight for a refund, have handed these scammers some free money. Working in the numbers they do, tacking their scam onto so many sales from so many companies, they probably sneak through thousands of scam charges on people for every one that is caught, so in the long run the numbers work out for them. Their defense to the BBB seems to simply be to say that they send emails to people, and the BBB is probably just unsure enough of how this works out legally, as confusing as the workings of the interenet can be, for it to go on.

How to keep Complete Savings from debting your account

Complete Savings is in the business of ripping people off so it's not surprising that they have disregarded your request for them to stop debiting your bank account. The response, from your bank, was more surprising. I used to work for a bank and if a customer complained about unauthorized debits to their account we would make sure that no more debits would be allowed by the offending company or party. If your bank is unwilling to do anything about the debits, being posted to your account by Complete Savings, after you have notified them that the debits are unauthorized then you have two options. First you could close out all of your account/accounts with this bank and find a new one to do business with. Secondly, you could close out just this one account with your bank, cancel the debit card associated with that account, and then open an entirely new account and apply for a new debit card to be attached to that new account. Hope this helps.
