Well here's what I wrote to the better BBB this morning.

Over 4 yrs ago I had a roommate. Well over 3 yrs ago she moved out.

In the last year I have received calls from CompuCredit. I always tell them I am not her, that I do not know where she is but to please stop calling. They always assure me that they would. Sometimes they stop for a while but always come back.

6 wks ago I decided to keep a log of how often they call me and how frequently I ask to be taken off their list. Since I started logging we are now at 7 times. This is only in the past 6 weeks.

I got a message from Mr. Jackson on Thursday, 7/19. I have this call (and others) saved on my answering machine. I returned the call 7/23 and spoke to Clara who assured me I would not be called anymore, but would not let me speak to a supervisor and hung up. I called back and spoke to Kenneth who was able to get a manager named Terry who assured me that I would never be called again.

Yet, this morning, 7/26 at 8:15 on my day off, I received a call again. This is 3 days since I was told I would no longer be bothered. My fiance asked for a manager and we were given Lisa Grassi. She assured me, once more, that we would never be called again. I do not believe her. I have contacted a supervisor, Bill Bowden, and left a message because there as no one over her available to speak to.

Ms Grassi also told me that Terry cannot be a manager because they do not have a manager named Terry, which makes me feel lied to by someone. I understand that when tracking down credit problems people lie and say that they are not that person etc. but this has been going on for months. The phone number is registered under my name and has never been registered under hers. This is my home which I own and she merely rented a room.

I have been trying to resolve this issue on my own for months. I feel lied to and seriously harassed and I'm not even their customer. Nor have I ever been, nor will I. I cannot believe that it is ethical to continue to harass a person who has no accounts or no outstanding issues with you. I am on the national do not call list, I have good credit, and there is no reason for me to continue to receive harassing phone calls. Furthermore, I have worked in customer service myself and cannot believe that I would continue to be told there were no managers, no other phone numbers, and promised that I would be taken off their call sheets.

This is completely bad business and I cannot believe that it is legal.

Please help me make this stop.

I would love to contact a lawyer as I've been told that this is not legal.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
