I purchased a Toshiba Satellite Laptop 1115-S103 on November 29, 2002 and according to my rebate center status with CompUSA will not be receiving my rebate for $200.00 from them at all!!

I purchased this computer while shopping the day after Thanksgiving because all of the ads for sales that day said there was a $200.00 Toshiba laptop mail-in rebate offer and a computer store mail-in rebate offer. Each store offered varying amounts and we ended up purchasing the product from CompUSA.

I submitted both rebate forms, following all specified instructions exactly! Here's the catch: the product package has one giant UPC that is a sticker and another sticker separate below it that has all of the same information but not the actual UPC. Now, both rebate offers required original UPC codes. I, as a consumer thinking logically, thought if I submitted the full code to Toshiba and the other code to CompUSA it would be accepted because, of course, everyone would have the same issue to deal with.

All I want is my rebate offer to be accepted . . . I never even received a notice by mail that it was rejected and I mailed it on November 30, 2002. It is now February 6th, 2003 and I have to find out I was rejected by searching on their website.

I will not stop until I get that $200.00 and would love to find out how many other innocent people have been ripped-off by these obvious con artists. It is a blatant rip-off scam because there is no way to submit the same original UPC code to two different companies!!!!!

If this is not settled by CompUSA, I will never, and I mean never, ever go back in that store again for any reason, whatsoever!

Not at CompUSA - Memphis, Tennessee

I went to the manager of the above store with an ad for both a $20.00 and $30.00 dollar rebate off a piece of PC memory. With the same requirment - an ORGINIAL UPC for both rebates. He told me that CompUSA will accept copies to sent orginial to PYN (I think), if it was not honored come back and he would honor it. I received the $20.00 rebate within the time frame listed but not the $30.00. I went back and saw the manager, he gave me $30.00 from the register.

I live a distance from Memphis, upon arriving home the same day he gave me the money there was a check for the $30.00 in the mail. I returned the check signed pay to the order of CompUSA a few days later, they could not believe I would do such. Point is talk with the LOCAL management of CompUSA - I do not usually take the time to write this type of response, but this gentlemen lived up to his word.

If your rebate is being handled by Parago may the
Good Lord be with you. BTW erver consider the manufacturer could indicate on the box which is the required UPC to obtain rebate?
