Hi Folks

I bought Windows XP based on an advertisement in a local CompUSA flier in Tampa, FL. I was in disbelief that they would offer a free companion airfare for a $100 product, that was perhaps my first nieve mistake. I read all the small print and went to the store. I bought the software, faithfully cut out all the required items, and mailed them on 11/30/01 to TCA Fulfillment Services in New Rochelle, NY. I waited more than the 3-4 weeks, and receiving nothing, I found the "wheresmyrebate.com" website.

To my surprise, it said my rebate had been rejected because I had not bought the product within the qualifying time period. Since I bought the product on the date the flier came out, I knew this was incorrect. I then found a number for rebate resolution and got the runaround. I ended up talking to a Lynn who was very sympathetic and said the store gave me the wrong rebate slip. She said she was going to check on it and give me a call back the next day. Guess what? A week and half later and no call. I tried calling today, once I was disconnected when I hit the "rebate" option and the rest of the time the line has been busy.

There seems like there should be something people can do to fight this deception and false advertising. Maybe the state attorney's office?
