Computer Finance, llc has controled my account for 3 years now and I make it a point to always make my payment on time. This time instead of mailing my payment I called it in.

This was a huge mistake, I was told it is now federal law to include a three digit code found on the back of the card in order to process a credit card payment. I had written down my credit card information before handing the card to my spouse to take with them to work.

When processing my payment they asked for this code, I hadn't written it down so I explained I would call back with it. I did this an hour or so later. I explained I was calling back to give only this three digit code to finalize my payment of fifty dollars for the month. They of course made me go through the process of giving all of my information over again stating this was their policy.

Two days later while reveiwing my bank statement I find that they charged my card twice taking a total of one hundred dollars. Obviously ignoring this very important federal law stating they can not except a payment without my three digit code.

So I call and explain the situation, they verify that yes they did charge me twice. However they can't refund my credit card they would send me a refund check by the middle of the next month, or I can just except that I made my next months payment in advance and be happy I'm ahead.

First of all they were not authorized to charge my card twice, instead of admitting they've made a mistake and giving me my money back they tell me they person who handles this is on vacation so I have to wait a month by that time I owe them another payment anyway. I assured them I would never trust them to except a payment over the phone again, her response to me was this "thats fine just make sure if you send it by mail it gets to us by the due date" They have no problem takeing my money but don't want to insure good customer service by giving it back when they've made a mistake. I had a gutt feeling buying a computer from Gateway was a mistake, now I know I was right, and I've made it my buisness to tell everyone else.
