Complaint Review: Computer Fincance LLC

My husband and I bought a Gateway Computer in November 2000. A year later, Computer Fincance, LLC took over our financial account. Okay, no big deal, Gateway sold their accounts. Well, the APR went from 10% to 28% out of absolutely nowhere. We had never missed a payment in the entire year that we had the computer.

So, we pay our monthly bill of $50 to this company that we know is trying to rip us off, but what choice do you have?

A year and a half after Computer Fincance, LLC took over (August 2002), my husband and i went shopping for a new car. And on our credit report are "delinquent payments" of our debt towards Computer Finance. Our report said we had 60 days late payment on our account quite a few times. We became enraged. I had copies of all of the cancelled checks paid to Gateway/Computer Fincance since we first got the computer. Never even a LATE payment.

The company we're buying the car off of understands the situation and are going to work with us, but ultimately, it is the banks decision, based on our credit report, which we're told should be much higher than it's stating, even with the "delinquencies". I found this website and brouoght in a few articles to show them.

I don't believe that a slimy company that is currently under investigation should be able to effect your credit report. If a company is being investigated, then their effect on a report should be frozen until the issue is resolved.

Now my husband and i will have to pay double the amount of APR, when we did absolutely nothing.

And i have the proof of my payments, but i can't get a hold of anyone at this company for the life of me. And it seems that when someone does, it is of no use anyhow.

I'm taking this as far as i can go.
A person's credit is their livelihood!
