This company lied to us many times over and over. They sent us a tech and lied to the tech, told us he worked for them, even though the techs are independent contractor. They use a site on the internet to dispatch technicians, that they never met in there life. Never done work with before, they are known for not paying the technicians, they charge you so much and pay fraction of the amount to the tech.

They make promises, and promises but they never meet any, they are nothing but a big liars, watch out for them. Go with a local repair shop they are experienced, and they will be there and charge you less than this guy.

The Computer Geeks are lying...

#3Consumer Comment

I can verify Sarah's posting above, this is just The Computer Geeks lying yet again.

I used to be a freelance IT guy posting my services on Craigslist San Francisco. One day the Computer Geeks, who work out of Los Angeles, called me and asked if I was available for a job that day. They found me on Craigslist, there was no more vetting than a quick conversation. No references from me, not even a resume, just my ad on Craigslist, which was mostly a bunch of jokes about how I can "get your computer dancing again".

So their rebuttal is just a bald faced lie: "a field services team of over 12,000. All of our technicians are background checked, bonded, insured and carry various certifications such as CompTIA, MCSE, CCNA, etc." What comprises this "12,000 person field services team", all of the people posting on Craigslist?

Furthermore I didn't have any of the certifications they mentioned, nor did they even ask if I did. I was just a guy who was good at computers and offered my services.

I went to the job and faxed Computer Geeks a non compete form that they wanted me to sign stating that I wouldn't work for the client directly. No problem. The next day the client had me back to do more work, then again. Now the fun started: the staff at Computer Geeks claimed the client complained about me. I thought that was strange since everything went really well, but who knows, weird things do happen. Then 2 weeks or so later the client called me directly on my cellphone, said they'd been looking for my number, tracked me down directly on Craigslist, and wanted me to come back in. They never complained about me, turns out they had a problem with The Computer Geeks about issues unrelated to me. It was just the Computer Geeks weaseling out of paying me.

Possibly the most interesting part of the exchange was when I was calling them multiple times a day to get paid, Dave who runs the company said "no problem, you just need to fill out this form and we'll get you a check". So I filled out the form and then got an official looking email that said something to the effect of "We dispute this claim" and cited all these laws saying I would be fined X dollars for every "harassing" email or call I made. It was pretty clear to me that they had a whole method to ripping off techs, and I had just fallen into their trap. So I just wrote it off.

Funny sidenote: do a search for them on ripoffreport.com and you'll see they were banned from even posting ads on a site called Onforce because they kept ripping off their techs. So my experience is far from unique.

As far as verifying my claims, I have a long list of emails from Computer Geeks, will gladly post my name on request, and the contract I signed with them is expired so I can get any info needed from the company I did the work for.

Avoid this company! There are plenty of people and companies out there who will do honest and much better work.
