Concours Auto Sales Dealer tries to sell me car that barely runs for $15,000. Threatened me after I made an offer. RIPOFF West Palm Beach Florida
With all the employee pricing programs going on, I figured I could get an excellent deal on a preowned pickup.
I stopped by Concours Auto Sales and Gary a salesperson greeted me and showed me a Dodge Ram. Visually the car looked to be in decent shape and had 40,000 miles on it. I put the key in and turned and a loud whine came from the starter but the car did not start. I repeated and again it did not start. Then on the 3rd try the engine finally cranked over. The salesperson jumped in and mashed on the gas a couple of times.
During the test drive, the engine ran very roughly and there was constant backfiring from the engine. Gary assured me that there was no problem and everything would be under warranty.
At the end of the test drive, I opened the hood and it was full of surprises. The battery terminals were oxidized. There were oil stains around the valve covers. A mess of wires seemed went nowhere. To top it off, a white sand like substance filmed the entire engine compartment. I completely lost interest after that.
Gary told me to wait here and another guy, introduces himslef as Dennis Beach. He quickly reasons that the truck is in excellent shape and just needed to be detailed and offered to have the detailing work done for me if I purchase the vehicle.
I declined his offer and proceeded to walk out but the deceptive duo followed and offered to lower the price. Once again, I declined , but then Gary hands me a piece of paper and asks me to write down what I would be willing to pay for the vehicle.
He handed me a pen and I wrote $2500 and handed the paper back to him. Gary shows Dennis the paper, and then Dennis screams, "Are you joking? That truck is worth at least $12,000. Get the fu** out of here. I'll kick your a** if you don't leave."
I laughed and told him to, "Come and Try." He took two steps forward, but Gary put a hand on his shoulder and whispered something in his ear. I was glad to walk away.
