Conetrol poor customer service product support and warranty Seguin Texas
In 2011 or 2012 I purchased a set of Conetrol rings and a base for a Thompson/Center Encore handgun. I questioned a man, who I believe to be the owner, at Conetrol about the suitability of their product for mounting a scope on a handgun having very heavy recoil and he said the recoil would not be a problem.
When I got the base, it projected back just enough to prevent the action from closing. I should have gotten my first clue there. I called Control and was told that if I ground off enough of the base to permit the action to close, that I would not void the lifetime warranty. I got the scope mounted, and put probably 40 to 60 rounds through the gun and all seemed OK.
I then took the gun to South Africa on safari. I found myself missing what should have been easy shots for me. It turned out that the rear mount was loosening though it had been installed with Lock Tite. I am not, by the way, new to mounting scopes on rifles and handguns. I tightened things up and went shooting again. This time the rear ring broke.
My handgun hunting then pretty much came to an end. On my return to the U.S.A., I wrote a letter to Conetrol telling them of my problem (letter dated 10/21/12). Since their product was obviously not suitable from my purpose, I enclosed a copy of my receipt, the broken ring, the unbroken ring, the base and all the screws and asked for a refund. I never received any kind of response from Conetrol.
Yes, I know they got my letter and their broken product because I mailed it with tracking information via the U. S. Postal Service.
