My second husband died of cancer on May 13, 1996. I had cancer insurance on him with a company originally known as "TRANSPORT LIFE" , which, in the headlong acquistions of Conseco, was gobbled up.

Within a few days of my husband's death, I had sent a death certificate and notations indicating that since my husband died, I wanted his policy stopped, and for them to discontinue taking out premiums.

In November, 2007, my third husband died, and as before, written notice was given to Conseco asking them to stop his policy and discontinue premium withdrawals.

Well, my bank, Regions, got an upgrade on their computer systems such that now, they can print more information about each withdrawl.

Suddenly, it was clear to see that Conseco was taking my money, without my authorization, out on a dead man. It was around $81.43 a month for around 12 years, or ALMOST 12 thousand dollars (not quite but close).

My son has provided a certified letter outlining our complaint, and making a demand for a refund. We had been told by a phone rep for the company early on that if they had been wrongfully taking out money for 12 years and she could prove her husband was dead and the fact of the withdrawal, the company, CONSECO, would refund every penny.

Has not happened, and I am wondering if this does not rise to the level of insurance fraud.

I am an 82 year old on a fixed income, I need this money back.
