Consolidated Media Services, CMS ripoff dishonest deceptive arrogant Atlanta Georgia
I folded to the high pressure sales tactics employed by the CMS telemarketer. After repeating numerous times that I am too busy to read magazines, I have cancelled all my other magazines and do not desire any magazines, I still ended up ordering three subscriptions for four years.
Once I got off the phone I was thoroughly po'd at myself for falling for the slick sales presentation.
The only thing which was a plus so far is that they waited till the date I specified before debiting my credit card. But now, after mailing in the official cancelation request, within a day of receiving the welcome package, I am still waiting for some acknowledgement that may request will be honored and my initial payment will be refunded.
It has only been two weeks so there is no way I have started to get any magazines yet. I just came across a ConsumerAffairs.com article which states that the FTC has filed with a federal judge in Virginia to get a restraining order against CMS and it's affiliate companies.
In the mean time I have requested a cancelation of the credit card I provided to CMS. This is a pain because I have several other bills which are auto-debited from that card. But better to go through the hassle of providing a new card number to the legitimate companies then to let CMS debit any more money from my account.
I don't expect to see a refund. If that one payment is the only thing I lose then I will take my knocks and learn from it all.

I am the originator of this report. I just wanted to add this since I have received reimbursement.
I just checked my credit card account and found that CMS credited the entire first payment back to my credit card as I requested when I sent in my formal cancelation form.
This is significant in that I placed the order on the 30th of March, I received the Welcome Pack on the 4th of April. I then mailed the cancelation form on the 5th of April and as of midnight the 15th of April I have received my refund. From what I have read here, it normally doesn't happen like that.
I am very pleased with that part of the process. But I'm still upset with the marketing tactics.
