I was contacted by a CMS agent in the summer of 2001. He told me that I could have 4 magazines of my choice for for 1 year plus a ladies watch(which I never recieved) for only $49.00. I thought that was a fair deal. I then found out that I would be recieving about 15 magazines more that I never even mentioned for 4 years at the price of 12 monthly payments of $49.00.

I contacted them right away and told them that this not what I wanted and to please stop sending so many magazines I only wanted the 4 that I chose for the price quoted to me. The agent told me that they were complimentary but never said that they would be charging me for them also. I have been fighting this for 1 year now.

I reported them to the better business bureau late last year and also contacted the president of CMS via e-mail. I never heard from him.

Now I'm getting notices like every week that I will be sent to collections if I don't pay my acct. I paid my $49.00 payment plus they automatically charged me card for 2 more payments.

I think I've given them more than what they deserve plus I have so many magazines that I never even read cluttering up my house.

PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tim, I know the problem. First don't pay another cent. Contact your credit card company, explain the situation to them and inform them that you want to dispute the charges.

Second, contact the magazines and also tell them the situation and ask to end the subscription.

Third, contact Connie Spearman of the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs of Atlanta. She is an investigator that is currently looking into CMS. Contact her and tell her your story. You can contact her at: Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Suite 356, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-4600

Also check out some of the other individual complaints concerning CMS, there are some other organizations listed that you can contact as well. Sorry to report that the BBB is rather worthless, so I'd contact them last and only if you have some time to waste.

Good luck and go get em'
