Just one day after I applied for a citibank credit card, I got a call from consumer first. I took the call in high spirits and answered all their questions assuming that it was a call from citibank. If I am not mistaken thats the impression that they too gave me throughout the call.

They called me up and said that I have been approved for $5000/-. I told them that I alreay have cards for $9000+ then they told me that I have been approved for $10000- at zero percent APR for one year.

I had a high APR personal loan so I thought perhaps I will be able to pay my personal loan with this amount.

Then they told me as this is a big amont they will charge me $249/- for that. I then thought this could be good compared to the interest I would end up paying on my personal loan.

After that there was absolutely no communication for more than a month. Then I see $249/- deducted from my account. I called up the number and they said that I have to contact consumer first. Then I called up the 1800 number for consumer first. They told me that the packet has been despatched. I asked them what was this packet all about. They said that its all our services etc.

After a week again I called up and they told me that the packet is in DEnver. I told them that I am not interested in this offer and I want a refund. They told me that I could only cancel it after I getting the packet. I have to just call up and cancel it. I received the packet after more than a month and then when I called them up to cancel it they told me to send the packet back to them and then they will cancel it.

The packet had nothing but very common offers which were of absolutely no use for me.

I just checked on google for Consumer First Financial and I saw them listed as fraud. I have send the packet back to them by express mail which again costed me $17.85 and now I am just hoping that I get my $249/- back. Its a big money in this market situation.
