I received an unlawful charge today from ConsumerInfo.com in the amount of $79.95. I was given a tel # by my credit union to call & dispute the charge. The tel # was (800) 220 2626.

The first time I called, the line never connected. I tried twice, and the same thing happened both times. I then contacted my credit union again, and advised them of this. The rep placed me on hold & called. When he returned to the line, he indicated that just as he was about to hang up, a recording came on. I asked him to connect me to the number, which he did.

Once connected, a recording came on with several different options. Since none of them fit why I was calling, I pressed option 6 to speak to a representative. A woman by the name of Amy, operator # 62181 came on the line. I advised her that there was a charge to my account in the amount of $79.95, and that I wanted it removed. She placed me on hold for about 1 minute.

When she returned, she asked what I wanted to do with the membership. I advised her that I never wanted a membership in the first place, I only required a credit report, which I don't think I ever received. I told her I wanted the membership cancelled, as I knew it had not yet even been 30 days since I had first ordered the report in the first place. She advised that a confirmation email would be sent to me within 48 hours, and a credit issued to my card within 7-10 business days. I will constantly check my email and checking account to see if this promise comes to fruition.
