On 2/25/2005, I puchased a Mitsubishi Galant from Max Madsen mitsubishi of IL.  This vehicle had a payment of 283.00 a mon, full purchase price was 9,873.00.  Due to financial circumstances, I was no longer able to make neccesary monthly payments.  I decided to voluntarily surrender this vehicle, 12/31/2007.  For two years I made the necessary payments, while doing so, was consantly harrassed, by CPS.   after surrendering this vehicle, attempts were made to pay the balance after the vehicle had been auctioned off.

Approxiamately 2000.00 had been paid regarding a settlement offer to resolve issue.  I noticed after pulling credit report, CPS, HAD NOT RECORED THAT ANY PAYMENT WAS MADE TOWARD THE BALANCE.  As a result, the balance of 6,195.00 is reflecting on my credit report.  I have attempted to contact CPS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, AND HAVE BEEN PLACED ON HOLD FOR HOURS, DEHUMANIZED BY THEIR SERVICE REPS, RESULTING IN THIS ISSUE STILL NOT REACHING RESOLUTION!!!  THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP

CPS are truly scam artists

Regardless of the comments above which are probably being paid for be CPS thro cronies they truly are ripoff merchants.

I had and still have proof that my car had been fully paid for but a month ago repo men came to claim it.  They had no interest in hearing me out or checking the validity of the documentation until I got the local police involved.

Then suddenly they became very helpful and let the officer talk on their phone to CPS.  They initially stated that my documents must be false or fake then as the officer probed further quoting account numbers and date of last payment they agreed there must be a mistake on their end!

However it took a dispute with the credit agencies and 30 days to get their wrong negative report taken off.  I am now in the process of suing them for harassment and damages.

They are so "dehumanizing".  Yes, you are so, so sensitive!

What is a FRAUD is subprime welfare types like you who continue to wallow in their subprime sewer.

Another Sub-prime lender who doesn't understand the consequences of their actions.

First of all you were with a Sub-Prime lender meaning you had credit issues in the past.  So what do you do..you get another car you can't afford paying what is probably a huge interest rate.  So while you don't want to hear it the balance that they are showing on your credit report is probably correct.  While you didn't give many details I bet that what I am giving you is pretty close to the actual situation.

You paid $283 for let's say 34 months, that would be a total of about $9600.  Of course that is figuring that you paid every one of those payments ON-TIME, which if you did a Voluntary Repo I doubt is the case.  In combination with that and what was probably a high interest rate your balance was probably down to only about $7500.

So now they sell it at auction, and since this was probably a high-mileage older model car I doubt they sold it for much more than $1000.  This does get taken off of the balance, but they also are allowed to add in their fees.  So you probably still had a balance off around $7,000.

So then you make about $2,000 in payments.  But during this time they are still charging you Interest.  It is still very possible that your balance is in the $6,200 range because of the Interest that continues to be assessed.

Now, as to your credit report.  How much do you think you owe?  Can you provide other numbers to prove your claim?  If so you can put in a dispute with the Credit Reporting Agencies to have them adjust it.  But in the end that is basically meaningless.  Because it really doesn't matter if you have a Collection Account of $6,200 or $2,500 or $10,000 all creditors care about is that you have an amount in collections.  Second the credit report balance does not override what you truly do owe.  So even if you get the Credit Reports to adjust the balance based on your claims, if the company can prove that you owe a specific balance...they will still prevail.
