So around a year ago, I bought a Samsung i900 Omnia off Selectgsm.com. (Great site for GSM phones by the way). The only mistake I made was buying this "warranty" to protect my phone if it ever were to fail.

Since my phone is entirely based on touch, it is quite a big deal when there is a "dead spot" that simply does not recognize taps from my fingers or even the stylus. There are also small pixelated dots on the sides of the screen, so I figured that this is big enough of a problem to have my phone fixed.

At first, everything goes swimmingly. I file a claim, they respond within a day asking for my original receipt, I send it, and they respond another day after saying they'll contact me within 24-48 hours with the decision.

Here's where things go downhill.

Here's an excerpt from the email I received:
Please include a check in the amount of $70.00 ($25.00 shipping, handling and insurance + $45.00 for international shipping), made payable to Consumer Priority Service to cover any applicable co-payments, return shipping, handling and insurance costs for your product.

Besides the absurd amount which is identical to what I paid to get 4 years coverage in the first place, why in the world is there two shipping costs? I live in Canada, and $25.00 Shipping seems reasonable, whereas ANOTHER $40.00 on top of this is just ludicrous. Why am I being charged twice for shipping, I wonder? Who came up with this seemingly random number of $70.00?

My phone is still mostly functional, and I suppose I can live with the annoyance, as I am not ready to part with my phone for the 1 month they quoted me to repair it, and $70.00. I would seriously beware of this company, as their "No hidden fees" statement is a load of... baloney.
