Consumer's Reward Program Tristar Financials Do not cash check from these people Toronto Ontario Canada
My name is Jennifer xxxxx. My husband, Mark received a check in the sum of $3,820.00 today along with a letter of Lottery winnings. The letter states we won $38,000 which will be paid once we call the phone number in the letter.
We tried numerous times to contact the individuals listed in the letter (Linda Johnston or Mark Butler) at 1-905-598-6352. Every attempt to call led to a greeting stating the mail box was full. After numerous attempts, I looked the phone number up online and it is a wireless phone number. The check is claimed to be for the "Luxury Tax" that is withdrawn in advance from the $38,000 that was to be sent to us.
If anyone comes in contact with such a letter or correspondence, report it immediately. We made the mistake of cashing the check which we are clearing up and reporting to our bank tomorrow(as they are closed now). I am aware of scams being able to trace your bank information once you've cashed the check and then withdrawing your money. I am also concerned that this may be a fraudulent check which illegal to cash so take heed. Reoprt if it seems too good to be true, it most likely is!
