Cancel And Get Some Money Back?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, July 21, 2003

Jeff:

This company and many others like it are offering FREE credit reports. Each CLEARLY states in their TERMS & CONDITIONS of acceptance that the consumer agrees to become a site member and pay a yearly fee ($79.99, in your case).

They are able to make lots of money BECAUSE most consumers only see the FREE offer and will not bother reading the Terms & Conditions. And these people take full advantage of that fact.

My advice is for you to go to the site and read what you DID agree too. From what I've read,if you cancel now, you may be able to get some of your money back. The $79.99 is for a full year membership in advance and most sites indicate it's prorated.

Bottom Line: YOU DID AGREE to pay them $79.99! You just didn't READ what you were agreeing to.
