I was charged $79.95 to my VISA after signing up for a FREE credit report. This was a completely unauthorized charge, and it came almost a month after I first got my report.

I am going to call my credit card company to see if the charges will be dropped. I have also contacted a lawyer who has filed a class action suit against the consumerinfo.com. I hope this helps others to beware of consumerinfo.com (CIC).

Did you read the fine print???? Dumb question....Did you bother to read the ENTIRE contract? I had the same problem with Clearcredit.com a few months back. I had no luck in getting my bounced check fees recouped due to them charging my debit card with no notice. Also, what these companies will do is, dispute EVERYTHING on your credit report whether it's right or wrong! This is actually an unethical practice and borders on law breaking; it's right up there with obtaining a new social security number to get a new credit identity! You need to PRINT a copy of their terms of service agreement and look at it VERY carefully. One more bit of advice....By contacting the three major reporting agencies directly, you may now obtain a copy of your three credit reports and credit score annually. Cut the middle man out and save yourself some heartache! Good luck........
