Complaint Review: ConsumerInfo.com

I noticed a charge for $79.95 on my account. I emailed my bank to see what it was and to get contact information for the company. When I called they immediately demanded my social security number. I informed them I would not give them that information and that I never signed up for this account so the number provided is probably wrong anyway. They asked for my first and last name. When I gave it to them, they said that the name doesn't appear in their database.

Richard, the man "helping" me asked for the card number that was charged. Hesitantly, I gave him the number and the information for the account finally came up. WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME AND INFORMATION. I'm being charged for someone else's credit reports and monitoring. He immediately called it fraud on the other person's part with no chance of there being an error on THEIR part.

When I asked about getting this account closed he said he can't do that, but gave me instructions on how to send a fax to request a closing of the account. They want a picture ID, a copy of my social security card, and signature. Knowing these guys already charged me TWICE (Almost $160.00) and now they want this information I'm not sure I should trust them, but I'll have to take the chance.

They said to contact the "Consumer Relations Corp" at the fax number: 714-385-2100 (in case anyone else needs it.) I also sent an email to the class action attorney handling the suit against this company (be sure to check that out, there's a post about it on this site already).

Watch out for these guys. They don't know what they're doing when it comes to complaints, but they sure know how to get your money fast.
