Re: Reference #22172

Dear Mr. Oved:

Enclosed you will find your quote for the above move and your invoice. I have also enclosed the invoice for the transport of the exact same items from my Millbrae home in December, 2007 (from a third floor apartment), for comparison. Your invoice needs to be adjusted and the costs reduced for the following reasons:

1. I was promised three movers, and only two arrived. This caused the loading and unloading of items to take NINE hours.
2. The movers brought a truck that was too small for my items, causing them to make TWO trips. Please note that I had fully described the contents of my home to Michael prior to the move. Even though there were two bedrooms, all the items fit into a one-bedroom apartment.
3. Your quote and website indicated that there would be no charge for wrapping of furniture, which is why I selected your company. Your movers charged me for packing materials anyway. They actually used two boxes to wrap a small carpet shampooer!
4. Your movers insisted that I empty the contents of my triple dresser into boxes (which I was undoubtedly charged for) because they did not have a cart or ramp to roll the dresser onto the truck. They also took it up on themselves to empty the contents of my nightstand into a box without my consent.
5. They failed to reassemble my bed and dresser (with attached mirror).
6. They damaged the surface of the nightstand.

Therefore, I request that you reduce the charges of the second trip to my former residence and back (two hours of labor) and for the packing materials (cardboard and tape). If $423.44 (two hours @ $77 plus $269.44) is not refunded to me by June 24, 2008 I will be forced to take further action.

Sincerely,

Patty R(xxxxxx)

File a complaint to the CPUC and BBB

#3Consumer Comment

Tue, July 08, 2008

I currently have a complaint filed with the CPUC and the Better Business Bureau. They are under investigation and if you log a complaint it will help others avoid having such a horrible experience.

I had almost every piece of furniture (that they actually moved) broken. I know how you feel about the price being jacked up.

They basically held my items hostage until I paid them over 1300 over quoted price.
