I received a credit card from Continental Finance for a Verve card.  I sign it and returned it.  I got the card.  I have been making my payments on time, but according to Continental Finance, they did not received it by the due date.

I am on Social Security and do not received my pay until 3rd of month.  I make my payments on the 5th but they stated they did not get the payment before the 8th.  I have never, until January 18, 2015, received any form of a letter stating I had not make a payment for January.  I paid the bill by bill pay at my bank. They stated they did not get the payment by the 8th.  I paid it on 5 January but they stated they did not get it on time.

On January 18, 2015, I received a letter from Continental Finance that I had not made my payment for January.  I made the payment on the 5th by bill pay at my bank, but they did not received the payment until January 11th, They stated that there was a late for of $25.00 and an overage fee because I did not sent a full payment.  They want me to pay $68.00 plus $10.99 for using Western Union.

I cannot be responsible for when they receive payments.  I sent the payment before the 8th,  I still do not know why I need to make a $68.00 payment to them.  They took out the late fee of $25.00, but what is causing the payment to be $68.00?  if there was only a fee of being late and an overage fee for the $4.00 I did not send, where are the charges coming from?  They could not give my an answer to that question.

If you need more information, please call me and I will attempt to make this clearer to you.

Thank you

The Date Matters

The date you sent the payment doesn't matter.  It has to reach them on or before the due date.  You will need to adjust your budget such that you can send it, say, on the first of the month.
