Complaint Review: Continental Warranty

My vehicle breakdown (blown headgasket) occurred while traveling away from home. The vehicle sat in the dealear's repair shop for a week while waiting for their inspector to show up to approve the claim. Continental only sells you the policy. They pay "Royal Administration Services, Inc." to handle all claims.

(1) The inspector required a partial teardown of the engine to determine the extent of damages. Continental WILL NOT PAY for the teardown & diagnosis that THEY requested ($600.00).

(2) After approving my claim, a replacement engine had to be ordered. Royal Administration locates a USED REPLACEMENT engine from a specified vendor ("LKQ"), then leaves it to the dealer/repair shop to order it. It's going on 2-weeks now since the dealer placed the order. The parts vendor won't answer his phone, and Continental Customer Service won't lift a finger to offer any assistance.

(3) Even though the time delays are a direct result of Continental Warranty's policies, they won't reimburse me for any rental car fees beyond 5 days. I'm on my third week without a vehicle, and my vehicle is at a dealership more than 150 miles away from my home.
