I received an application for unemployment insurance in May09 through email.I applied for the insurance & the site said I would be enrolled.Weeks later I contacted Continental to question the insurance & open a claim. The first rep I spoke to argued that I did not receive an email. After forwarding the original emails to them they tried to help me open a claim with the insurance company. At this time my account was current and not past due.A rep contacted the insurance company with me on conference call. The insurance company guaranteed that the claim would be opened & back dated to the original date of the application. For four months I contacted Continental who said they were doing everything they could to get the matter handled quickly. They made calls as well as I did to the insurance company. Then after months the insurance company said they decided they werent going to honor the insurance even though they initially said they would. Then Continental said that they would send a request to the compliance department & ask them to freeze the account for 6 months & remove all of the over the limit fees & late fees. The rep assured me they would look at the countless notes, & take the situation into consideration. I found out yesterday that they were also not willing to do anything except offer me a settlement on the full balance which is mostly over limit fees & late fees. After almost 5 months of going back and forth, doing everything they asked & being extremely patient I was no further than I was months ago.Continental has done nothing they said they would & neither has their insurance company. After all the fees they charge you just to get this card to establish credit you would think they would help you somewhere along the way.I opened this card to establish credit when I was employed. An unforeseen layoff is the reason I cannot afford the payment.I enrolled in the insurance for this reason, no where did the application or site say I had a waiting period.I was never late one payment until this point.

Beware of "Lots" the insurance company. Beware of the high maintenance fees. There are better ways to establish credit!
