We booked pre signed up to get a block of room for the ABC Kids Expo in October 2013. On Monday, May 13 CHS (Convention Housing Services) called stating that they were the official hotel booking company for the conventions. Tony Reed, which is the manager, assured us that they could get us the best rate for us. I told him I was not sure of  the dates as we have severl employees from sales reps to executives to marketing traveling in between the dates of October 13-19th. They told me if I could find out the informtion that they would contact me the next day and in the meantime they were going to look for the best rates possible near the convention center. Tony called the next day and said that Kevin (customer service) would be helping me out. I received a contract for me to fill out with a date and was asked to sign. After it was signed and send I received a copy of the contract but not a confirmation that the rooms were booked at the LVH. Something prompted me to contact ABC Housing for the Expo and their said that they do not use Convention Housing Services and that they were a fradualant company trying to get money. They requested I send them all information I recieved from CHS. Today I received an email from ABC Kids Expo Housing and they responded with this.

  • Attempt to deny charges with your credit card company

  • Contact the Better Business Bureau (especially if they are presenting themselves as our client (in writing) or the official housing bureau for the event)

  • Blog-Blog-Blog ....good website for this is ripoff.com

  • Contact the hotel direct-ensure that the hotel DOES have a reservation.  Request that a confirmation be forwarded with documentation of the associated payment.

I contacted the LVH and found that there were indeed reeservations made for all the names in the party and the dates were correct. After speaking with LVH (they were very nice) and explained to them what was going on they said that they have dealt with this company before that CHS does not work woth the convention center and that they suggested that I stay on top of the situation. They mentioned that CHS has a habit of booking room only to cancel the reservations 1 - 2 weeks in advance. Leaving the guests with no rooms. I called CHS and asked for Tony only to be told he was in a meeting or on a phone call and suggested I leave a message which I did and have not heard from him since. I asked to speak with Kevin only to be told that he was not in t the office. When I explained to the receptionist what was going on she transfered me to a customer service rep names Luis. He was kind enough to help me and suggested that I send and email with my request for a refund to help@coventionhousingservices.com. I sent an email this morning and have not heard from heard from them as of yet. By the way, they do not give refunds only credit to be used at another convention anywhere in the US. Cancellation policy also states there is a 25% charge for full cancellation of the reservation. Luckly we were contact the credit card company and let them know what was going on.

BEWARE DO NOT USE THEM. My understanding is that they are able to get a hold of a list of all the participants  attending the shows and that what they use to contact victims and lure them into thinking if they do not book now they will loose the best rate. By the way, when I called LVH to thank them for their help, I asked them if we could book direct through them and they said I could go through ABC KIDS EXPO and t hat the rate of the rooms were $109 per night $10.00 cheaper than the rate CHS offered. Not only are they lairs but they try to get more than what the regular rates are.

Teresa, I hate to break it to you, but your details are inconsistent.

In April you said you got a call from them a month ago (Meaning March). They've been out of business since Early February/Late January.

I don't dispute that their prices aren't always competitive, but the price you recieved last year was fair.

To be clear, Tony did not tell you they were the official housing service. Having heard the recording myself, it was actually you who asserted that they were and then gave up the credit card. It was one of the floor's highlights of the day as we all gathered to hear you lay down and give up your info in less than five minutes. I assure you, it was all you.

The kicker here is that Kevin got on the line and blatantly informed you that CHS was not affiliated with LVH or the Convention.

I can't comment on their service because I've never used them, but then again, since you cancelled, neither can you.

I am not defending Convention Housing Services here. You'll notice my handle doesn't appear on any other of their reports. As far as I'm concerned, they may all be perfectly accurate. I can even add my own laundry list of complaints about them. I'm not even defending Kevin or Luis. I have my own complaints about them too. As far as I know, your report on them may be 100% accurate. I didn't hear those recordings.

If I'm defending anything here, it's the two salespeople. They did not mislead you and they did not misrepresent. You filled all of those blanks in yourself.

Qabala, I hate to break it to you but YES. I still call the hotel I'm interested in and ask them about CHS and YES they still tell me that they are not associated with CHS and they ARE NOT the official housing of any of the trade shows. Oh and just an FYI, I did receive a call from CHS a month ago trying to book the LVH for ABC Kids EXPO in September 2014. They offered me a low rate of $109.00. Sound familiar? You know what I told them? I told them thank you but no thank you, I already booked the rooms and when they asked how much I got the rate for I said $79.00 and that when they tried to match it. Please, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. NO THANK YOU. BTW, here's some information from ABC Kids Expo Reserved Housing:

Please be vigilant if approached by any other company or service other than ABC Housing/Wyndham Jade that implies or claims to be the "Official Housing Provider" for the ABC Kids Expo. We have been made aware of other housing companies that may be aggressively pursuing you, or your company, to book your guest rooms through their company at supposedly significant discounts. Reservations made through an agency other than ABC Housing/Wyndham Jade will be at your own risk. If you are contacted by another housing company trying to sell hotel rooms, please notify ABC Housing/Wyndham Jade at abc@wyndhamjade.com.

UPDATE: Just received papers the CHS Filed for bankruptcy. How convenient. They haven't even given us our refund which they emailed us saying they couldn't accommodate us (How interesting) and would refund the whole amount. You call my report BS. I call your lies all BS. I hope your greener pastures don't lead you to lie about the current company you work for. Bottom line, BAD SERVICE AND COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. Lesson learned though, I will say that it taught me to catch the bull ******* when they call and try to get me to accept their deal. I always laugh now because I'll let them pitch me their hype and then I shoot them down by telling them #1 I already booked and #2 I actually USED The tradeshow housing. BTW. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY offers from Global Housing they are the same shady company as these folks.

 No Maurer Power,

I am not on the payroll, but I was at the time. I have since gone on to greener pastures and, even now, with nothing to gain from this, I still call BS on this report.

There are many complaints I could make about CHS. Their management. Their commission structure. Even some of their pricing. Any of the above could stand improvement, but what the above report addresses is patently untrue. The same holds for all of the allegations you've made.

First of all, this is the only complaint regarding CHS that I've commented on.

Second, I highly doubt that the hotel/convention center told her anything like that, especially since CHS is now regularly the official service for many conventions across the globe.

They are certainly a low-rent, poorly run, boiler room, but they do, indeed, fulfill every order they make.

So to answer your question, None of it is a ripoff because none of it happened.

And perhaps it is you who has been sucking Kevins #@!$. It's obvious that something put that bad taste in your mouth.

Get a life!

Clearly your a** is on the payroll at CHS. The name of your job title is to go onto all these sites that knock CHS and try to build them back up by stating your mis interpreted opinions. You obviously have a habit of not readin the post before you decided to comment. What about the hotel/convention center telling the lady that they deal with them all the time and what usually happens they cancel the resrervation 1-2 weeks prior without your knowledge but at the same time aren't guaranteed a full refund only a credit? What about that is not a rip off? Maybe your sucking Kevin's #@!$ under the table. Get a real job...u rip off artist.

So Teresa, you called LVH and found out that you had gotten exactly what you purchased, at exactly the price you were told, at a rate that was significantly lower than you could have gotten elsewhere and you are calling this a scam? Please elaborate. Also, Please elaborate on how you were under the impression that CHS are part of the conference. Kevin closes every deal by making sure clients are aware that CHS is a third-party wholesaler and your deal was no exception. You need to go ahead and look up the current rates for the LVH as posted on their site and on the convention site. If you go through with your misguided chargeback, you will still be left with the task of reserving your rooms at the exorbitant rates charged by the convention or on the LVH site. You saved money with CHS and recieved ideal accomodations. My suggestion is that you should take your victory.
