Convergent Outsourcing, Inc tried to get settlement of $463.91 for a credit card I had paid off years ago Houston Texas
I got a letter from Convergent Outspurcing on 6/19/13 claiming to want to settle a debt. The original creditor is listed as Capitol One. I paid this credit card off years ago and have the bank statements to prove it.
I had recently printed my credit report and there are no outstanding balances or negative reports on there. When I called the number listed on the letter, I spoke with a woman who asked me to verify my information and I told her I would not give her any information except my name and the account number listed on the letter. SHe was satisfied with that.
When she started explainging the payment process to me, I explained that I had paid this card off years ago and she said that I would need to send her comany copies of the reciepts where I had. I told her I would not be sending her anything. I told her that this account was not listed on my credit report and that I was not paying anything that was not listed on my credit report. She very quickly said, "well, then we have nothing else to talk about," and hung up on me.
I called my aunt who has worked in a back for years and she said to google the 1800 # listed on the paper and when I did the rip off report came up.
