Well, I was informed that I am over due by $319 but they are giving me a settlement for $79.

Now- I might not be the brightest rose in the garden, but even I know when something looks wrong. I tried to call them, it was this past Friday, and got a voicemail. The voicemail box was full, so I have to call again later- or not. Not quite sure what to do, honestly. Do I write or call?

Has anyone else written and gotten a reply? Has anyone been able to resolve their issue over the phone?

I hope to hear some good news from someone here on this thread, it'd be nice.

This # is not the Hartford Schools #. Sorry, I was looking at the wrong thing. 855 is a new are code reserved for current and future toll-calls. It is popular with telemarketers and scam artists because it does not have to be registered, so scammers can call with an 855 # and have immunity from legal action. I still say this is a scam and if you contact Verizon and give them your old account #, they will tell you you owe nothing.

The phone # you provided as their return # belongs to Hartford, CT Schools Emergency Broadcst #.  I think you were contacted by scammers, pretending to be with a legitimate debt collection agency, and trying to get you to send them money.  This is an extremely common scam right now.  Next time they call, tell them you spoke to Verizon and know that you do not owe any money and that they are scam artists.  If they were legit, they would have given you their toll-free 800 number. They are not legitmate. These scammers hope that you are stupid and will give them your $$$.  If you call Verizon, I bet they will tell you you owe nothing and they don't know why you were contacted about a balance.  If you fall for this scam and give them money, they will wait a few weeks and contact you again about yet another so-called unpaid debt. Laugh at them, insult them when they call again and tell them to F off.
