While moving all my items from my old house to my new house, Cook Brothers Moving broke the heat selector switch on my clothes dryer. Now the dryer is stuck on one heat setting and cannot be fixed. The dryer is about ten years old but worked just fine prior to the incident. Parts are nearly impossible to find. I contacted Cook Brothers about the incident and was told it would be looked into. I never heard from them. I called them several times and finally got an answer that they may be able to get the part from an appliance store.

Well, I didn't hear from them so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Michigan. Only due to my complaint did I hear anything from them. Their response was that they would pay for the damages however (get this) they stated they only had to pay $.06 per pound. Well, they wanted to weigh the broken plastic part and make the payment based on that weight, not the weight of the dryer. My dryer is broken and they broke off the part...I don't have it. This is a scam.

Even with the weight of the dryer factored in I still may not have enough to pay for the part, considering I can even locate the part. So, needless to say, the Better Business Bureau claim went unresolved. Beware that (at least in Michigan) they only have to pay you $.06 per pound on damages. Take out extra insurance. You'll have to pay for it but it may be worth it. I never thought I'd need it for a large steel dryer but I was wrong. A lesson learned.
