Cooper's Contracting - Cooper's Fence - Gerald Cooper Incapable Contractor claiming excellence. Ripped me off and ranleaving me with a horrible fence. Pelion South Carolina
I saw an advertisment in the yellow pages for Cooper's Fence.
Gerald Cooper personally came to my home and promised a 6 foot privacy fence, scalloped with caps. He personally helped with the construction of my fence. The date was May 16th, 2007
When he was about finished, he told me he was out of caps and did not have enough to complete the fence. He said he would be in the area the following week and would stop by to finish it. I briefly inspected the fence and noticed they had damaged the siding to my house. He said he would repair the damage when he returned as well. I also noticed the gate only had a way in, but no way out and staples were sticking out all over the place.
I agreed to pay him trusting he would return as he said and complete the job. A week went by and we noticed the fence was beginning to warp badly and my dogs could escape through the slats by simple pushing them. We noticed he used only staples and nails. Even worse the nails were not outdoor nails so they have rusted and broken off already.
After two weeks went by I called him and he told me he thought someone had come out to finish it already and he would be here in a week. Again no one came and I could not get a returned phone call.
In 3-5 months my mother sent him a certified letter with photos of our fence. He called once he had received the letter and said he would be by in a week. Again no one showed up. Now he is not answering or returning my phone calls and my fence has been left unfinished and badly warped for about ten months now. The date is now February 26th, 2008.
It was unsafe for our dogs so we had to go buy outdoor wood screws to reapply every slat so our dogs could not escape. The contract guarantees our fence would be completed to our satisfaction. It is neither satisfactory or complete.

Finally got a call

Gerald gave me a call after receiving notice from the Better Business Bureau of my complaint. His exact words were "I was not ignoring you". My question is...what were you doing? But I am easy to forgive and am not out to get people. I just paid a lot for a fence. I trusted him and even gave him and his guys water while they were building my fence. I will not go into that again.
Basically he called monday March 10th to tell me he needed to call me by the 13th. He said he would call me by friday to set up an appointment to come out and see the fence. But then he asked me to tell Better Business Bureau that he called because He did not have internet axcess to e-mail them. I did tell them he told me to say that. But I did not think that was my responsibility.
He did not call me untill almost two weeks later. When I called him back we set up an appointment for this thursday March 27th at 9am. He is going to come see what supplies he needs to fix it. I will believe it when it actually happens...but so far It looks as though this year long battle may finally come to an end.
