I thought I was calling Dell, but I must have misdialed. I was told the system was down by an Eastern Indian man and that because of that I was eligible for a $100 gift card.  I was told I could use the card at Walmart, Target ... and all he needed was a credit card to cover the handling charges of $3.95. This is Dell right? I asked. Yea sure.

I was suspicious. But I was the one who called Dell, how could this not be Dell? I gave him my card number.

But wait, there's more to this fabulous deal, he said, I was going to get a discount card that I could use to save 30 to 40 percent at these same stores, and that if I didn't like it, I could cancel in the first 30 days. If I didn't, I would be charged $39.95 a month for the card.

I immediately said cancel, cancel, cancel. He said it was too late, the order was processed.  I said, this isn't even Dell, is it. He didn't care, said he would get me to who I was trying to call as soon as I listened to the confirmation number from the next guy he wanted me to talk to.

I repeated that I wanted to cancel, he said I can't cancel unless I had the confirmation number.

We were screaming at each other at one point. What company does this? I asked how this $3.95 would show up on my credit card, he said it would show up as American Benefits. A google of the issue brought me to this web site, and the USA Benefit stories, which are identical to mine. Whether USA Benefits is the same company or just the same tactic is not verified.

After gettng on line with the second guy, my protest went nowhere. I said I was going to call my Bank and cancel, he said it was too late for that, the order was already processed. He explained that I was the one who willingly gave them my credit card, and that means it is a ligit company (his words). But, I asked,  I can't change my mind on the same phone call? What kind of company is that? They continued the fast talk and confusing talk to unbalance me, so I just hung up.

I called my bank 10 minutes later and they had not received any charges, so they lied to me, it had not been processed and it was not too late to cancel.

I called back 4 hours later and there was a charge of $1.00 from Core Vision Group. They have a web site, it appears to be the same company I was dealing with from their home page.

I told the Bank to cancel my card and dispute the $1.00 charge. Of which they said, I will not have to pay.

So, The first man I spoke to lied to me about the order being processed. The second man lied about how this would show up on my credit card.

Two Liars.
