Saw a posting on the Alamo Worksource web site that Corestaff Services was seeking Data Entry Clerks for one of their clients. I completed the application on their site, emailed my resume to Irma Martinez, and called Irma to set up an appointment as stated in the posting. When I spoke with Irma, she had my paperwork and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. I went to the appointment and she had me taking some computer test. After testing, I learn that all of the positions were already filled.

For the next several weeks, I called twice a week as stated in the Corestaff policy booklet. Then I received a call from Irma stating their client had open positions and I should get to her office right away. Well, I stopped by her office to read and sign about 10 different items that the client required. After I finished the paperwork, Irma tells me that she submitted me to the client and it should take a few days for the client to get back with her.

No response from Irma. After I waiting until the next Monday, I called the main number and I spoke with Wendy who said that Irma no longer worked there. I explained that Irma had submitted me with their client and I wanted to know whether I would be working for them. Wendy said that it will probably take to the end of day to get the answer. By the next morning, I didn't get a phone call. I called again. I spoke with John and had to repeat what happened with Wendy and Irma. John said that he would talk with Wendy and get back to me. A week goes by. No phone call nor any other communication from any Corestaff employee and no job to go to. What a waste eight hours of my time plus several gallons of gas.

A family friend recommended corestaff to me to apply for a position that they had already set up for me at their company. If only I had know what a rip off they were and how they practice unsettling and unethical business practices , I would have looked for other options from the beginning.I can attest to the fact that Corestaff services , especially the one in Houston is a complete rip off. They called me last week to notify me that the only way I can receive pay is through the use of a payroll card that they will begin issuing this week. I will no longer be receiving my pay through direct deposit. And they won't give the option of a paper check. Not only are they making this switch mandatory, they are also making us pay for it. They said there would be a fee for empoyees in order to maintain the paycard. I have never in my life heard of such a thing to be mandatory, with no other options available! And not only that, but they're giving employees a fee for something that they don't have a choice in using? Completely unfair. If that isn't unethical, I don't know what is. As soon as they spouted this rubbish to me, I wanted to switch temp agencies. Unfortunately, that's something I can't afford to do right now because my company is laying people off, and my supervisor told me that it would not be wise to quit at this time with the hopes of being rehired again( if only through another temp agency) .

so now, I find myself in a catch 22 situation. On top of the various bills I have to pay, I will also have to worry about a monthly fee for using something that has been imposed on me. The only option I have right now is to throw in the towel and look for another job, which makes sense for me right now, as I have also been quite unhappy working for the company I applied for through corestaff.

What a waste that company is. Their representatives are also very unhelpful in answering employee questions. I sense some type of defensiveness anytime I have ever asked them any questions. They never want to carefully explain what they are asking of their employees. They just demand that we do it. I can't wait until I find a new job and can tell Corestaff to go "somewhere". I'm in the process of finding a new job right now, as we speak.

A LOT OF TEMP AGENCIES ARE A RIP OFF

Corestaff is a RIP OFF here in Houston, along with the following: Westaff, Snelling, Office Team, Apple One, and Manpower. Its hard to tell who is on the up and up, so you probably will have to sign up with numerous ones until you find the one that works to your satisfaction.
