I found an add for an at home job on a California job website. I applied for it, then recieved an email with interview questions that I filled out and sent back. I am well aware of scams, so I kept my guard on.

The person that contacted me was named Robyn Cole. I was informed that I would be working on a trial basis for two weeks and I would recieve a cashiers check to deduct some money from for software and send the rest to someone else that would be sending me additional office software and equipment. I was skeptical, so I checked with the Better Business Bureau, they were not in there. I asked Robyn Cole about this and was informed that they were a rather young company, less than five years, and that is why they were not with the BBB. Still skeptical, I continued on. I wrote research reports, then recieved the check.

I let them know I had recieved it and they wanted the money sent out right away. Before I deposited it, I called the bank that the cashier's check was from and they told me that there was nothing they could do to check if it was a legit check, so I deposited it. I told Robyn Cole that it would take a couple weeks for it to clear.

A couple of days later a man with a thick African accent called and asked if I had deposited the check and wanted me to send out the money. Although, the bank made the money available to me after one day, I did some research and found out that it takes about 7 to 10 business days for a fake cashiers check to be found out. I wanted to be sure it was legit before taking any money out.

Low and behold, the check bounced and due to the charge, left my account in the negative. I just thank God, that I didn't touch any of it. I quickly emailed Robyn and mentioned that the check bounced and that I would at least like to get paid for the work that I did writing the reports. Now Robyn has emailed me back trying to blame me for stealing the money! I am so upset! I wish I had listened to my instincts and never gotten involved.
